Yard Dogs Return

The Yard Dogs Road Show rolled through town and the Conspiracy got dressed in their finery and headed out to party with them at the Fillmore. They put on a stellar show. Nate lost his mustache. Frank couldn't put a sentence together for two hours. Rory fell asleep in the car on the way home. (photo by Becca Henry)

Dr. Eaton gets dunked to promote his new band

Tuesday, December 19, 2006

That's Professor Eaton in the alien getup. Sources say he had to breathe through a straw and taught an entire class with his computer's speech synthesizer set to "spooky voice". What dedication.

What are those people doing?

The folks at Inspiration Conspiracy are currently buried in new projects.

SPINNER is dropping close to half a million dollars to buy a home in Williamsburg, Brooklyn with Dust Bunny. Who knew those motherf****rs were rich?

HARPER is leaving the SF Weekly in order to drop off the face of the Earth and eventually come back with a new play he describes as "Sam Shepherd meets the Sex Pistols". Ever an aficionado of the great title (past works entitled... House of Lucky, Love Song Later, Inhaling, Great Religions of America), his working title is the enigmatic King County. Harper is reluctant to comment on the rumor that he's got a collected volume coming out called "Big Sexy Land". We hope he's not gone long.

NATE is immersed in researching three feature articles. One revolves around the Native American tradition of the Vision Quest and how some Northern California judges are offering that up as an option for convicted teens instead of jail time. Another is a humor/horror piece detailing his arrest down in Argentina while on travel assignment. The last, just commissioned by the SF Weekly, is about the New Year's resolution of writing. Perhaps that will move along his much delayed novel, Packing For the Apocalypse.

PJ BRACCO has a new feature film script about a strangely charmed bus stop in NYC. Production is slated to begin summer '07 and should re-unite the old Boston Conspiracy.

MoonDog has just been tapped to direct the new music video for electronica star Justin Beck.

finally...

PASHA has just finished sucking blood in some Amish town.

Sam Shepherd

Harper and Professor eaton went to the premiere of SAM SHEPHERD's new play, The God of Hell, at the Magic Theater- his original San Francisco theater. Check out Harper's review for the show (cut and paste link):

Lit Quake San Francisco

Lit Quake came to town this last week. Meaning plenty of literary folk stormed the city, filling up any venue they could think of for readings, stories, and boozing. Mama Eaton drove up Monday night for the Porchlight Storytelling Event (like the Moth for you New Yorkers) and we ended up waiting in the cold for an intense 45 minutes. One dapper grey-bearded fellow got fed up and yelled at the bouncer, "You moron! This is a lit-ry event!!"

It was well worth it because inside:

Our hero Sean Wilsey (author of "Oh The Glory of it All") talked about blowing a potential screenwriting career because he always spelled "lose" as "loose." Hunter Thompson's assistant told some Dr. Gonzo nuttiness. And a young fellow told a very debaucherous tale of seducing the old geezer, William Burroughs, into bed.

Mama Eaton said it felt so "big city" and that it reminded her she's from a relatively small po-dunk town.

Spinner's Birthday!

That's right. Yesterday Dr. Bryce Cahn ventured into his mid-thirties. In addition to throwing a shindig in Williamsburg, Brooklyn with VIP guests Pasha, Moondog, and Johnny America...and of course Dust Bunny, Captain Eaton and Indigo joined in on video chat. Dr. Cahn placed his laptop on a corner table and the San Francisco crew got to be right there...live over the internet!

Earthdance Reunion

Many members of the Inspiration Conspiracy trekked to Northern California to the farm of 60's Clown Icon, Wavy Gravy...for a family reunion. Windancer, captain of the Walkabout Bus, along with Aunt Elizabeth have declared the annual world peace festival the annual Eaton Family gathering.

Sarah and Captain Eaton during the late night Ani DiFranco show.

"It was like Burning Man in the forest. And instead of the Road Warrior/space alien feeling of the playa it was more of the magical fairy/Gandalf feeling of the deep forest." observed Captain. "Late one night I stumbled through the trees and came across these tribal firespinners and musicians performing this amazing concert in this jungle thicket. They're amazing...and I'd love to run away with them." And they have a website to check them out: www.kannal.org

It was good to hang with Papa Winddancer, who's headed next to Glacier National Park.

Newlyweds Shantin and Ashley set up an amazing camp, Power to the Peaceful. Here we are in front of camp... unfortunately Elizabeth and Sarah were off trekking when this photo was taken.

Inspiration Conspiracy West is now open!

After a decade in New York City, Inspiration Conspiracy has expanded West to San Francisco.

The gang has been up to no good traveling to the far reaches. Dr. Garlington and Captain Nate both got arrested. Harper is back with House of Lucky and Indigo is into Somatics. Spinner and Dust Bunny are holding court in hipster heaven and Pasha is in his robe while WindDancer is spending nights on the Walkabout Bus. Alisa is covering the underground scene and Moondog is adventuring with Naia. Stay tuned for the latest...
